Burundi Bureau Standards and quality control "BBN" is a public administrative body, with a legal personality and an organizational and financial autonomy.
The implementation of the Council’s decisions and the day-to-day management of the Bureau are entrusted to the Director. The Director is assisted by a number of Deputies as determined by an Order of the Minister, and together they constitute the top management team.
The Burundi Bureau of Standards "BBN" was established in 1992 to promote standardisation, quality assurance, testing and metrology in Burundi, to support economic development, the quality of goods and the protection of the environment.
BBN wants to inform the Public and Private partners that the Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism in collaboration with BBN has introduced 216 Compulsory Standards by decision N0 750/0001 of 03/19/2015 relating to the List of Required standards. They are available in the Official Bulletin of Burundi (BOB) N0 5/2015.
In 2014, the laboratories at BBN carried out more than 1800 analysis on 450 samples for the inspection service, private clients, producers and researchers. The BBN reached the target given by MINICOM.

In 2014, the Metrology service inspected more than 300 fuel pumps throughout the country. All inspected pumps are marked with a green sticker from BBN. Pumps have also been adjusted to strengthen confidence between consumers and sellers.
BBN plans to repeat the inspection of the pumps in 2015 and also to test the quality of fuel.
